It looks lovely there and it sounds like you both are having a good time. I'll have to convince Veronica that we need a retreat out there some day.

Buenos Dias Michelle and Tom. I hope you are within range of the mountains and that you can see the stars in the evening. Have a wonderful time and a glass of wine for all of us on the 8th floor. You are missed.

Tom and Michelle,

What a wonderful experience! Isn't it amazing how wonderful and loving the native Ecuadorans are? It never ceases to amaze me.

Ciao!

Hi Thedi,

Have hunted and asked, and have not found any trace of jewish life in cuenca. there must be some, because there are so many visitors. Someone mentioned that one of their friends was probably jewish. But it's a seriously catholic city and we haven't found any trace.

We did find a pizza restaurant in rio bamba today that had israeli flag, menorah and star of david stickers on the front door. we had a nice lunch there, but discovered the stickers were merely decoration - they served as much pork as any other restaurant. Our vegetarian pizza was quite nice.

hi larry,

addresses aren't really used in cuenca. that sounded strange to us too, but that's how it is. if i want to write to someone, their address will be 'street whatever, between this street and that street', and the postman will know how to find them.

to find Lojano, start at the flower market. it's a half-block to your LEFT when you are facing the cathedral.

BTW, we ate at herradura, it was wonderful. thanks for the tip.
